Substitute Teacher

Core Independent Center is seeking a dependable and student-focused Substitute Teacher to provide instructional support for secondary students with disabilities (ages 18–21). The substitute teacher will ensure continuity of instruction in the absence of the regular classroom teacher or classroom paraprofessional while maintaining a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education Level: High School Diploma or GED required

  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • Previous experience in education or a classroom setting

    • Experience working with students with disabilities is preferred, but not required

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction to students following established lesson plans

  • Implement classroom teacher lesson plans as written

  • Support students in academic, social, vocational, and functional skill development

  • Maintain a safe, respectful, and structured classroom environment

  • Supervise students during instructional and non-instructional periods

  • Follow all district and building policies and procedures

  • Communicate effectively with school staff and administration

  • Ability to work effectively with students of varying abilities and needs

  • Strong communication and classroom management skills

  • Reliable, flexible, and professional demeanor

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
